Thought I'd post a quick introduction.
I have always loved the flute and envied everyone who could play it. I was convinced however that I could never be able to.
Then I met and befriended EJ Jones (of Clandestine fame, for hose who love Celtic music like me!). After hearing him play his Irish flute, particularly his rendition of Bonny Portmore on The Rogues 2005 album Roguetrip, I decided to attempt the seemingly impossible ... teach myself! Thankfully I do have some help from the flutist at church, not lessons as such though.
It's harder than it looks!! LOL However, I think I have made good progress for a beginner. I have a simple student quality metal flute, closed hole in the key of C. It seems to play pretty well, though I will probably have to look at something of better quality should I continue to progress.
Anyway, am working more on developing good tone (oh and learning to read music would be helpful too I suppose!).
Tips and suggestions would always be welcome!
